MFW: Luisa Beccaria show, a trail of feminity through eras
Welcome back, we are in Milano for MFW, and as always we’re looking forward at a full week. This time, we’re here with Friends of Fashion, which I will invite you to follow, before we deep dive into the first show of the season.
We started the morning with show of Luisa Beccaria with @friendsoffashion.co this morning felt like the definition of the “femminilità che viaggia attraverso epoche e stagioni”. A surreal fashion show, set in the garden of L’Acquario. The entryway, a little pond, which served as a memento for me, as a preview if you will. Because later we discover it, perfectly mirroring the translucent sequins re-covering florals, the DNA of the brand.
What I wore: Jacquemus Yellow Coat | Blenciaga Black Boots (a forever favorite you’ll see a lot) | Gucci Sunglasses | Brush Bag and Vintage silver earrings.
The runway felt more like a walk in the garden, with fresh faced models gracing poplin, organza, silk and sequin floral ensambles and romantic dresses, chic headscarfs and curious fantasy bags. It felt like a celebration, like a happy woman would wear this. And of course there was a nod to the exuberant green eye makeup of the 80s, when I think maybe people used to celebrate colour a bit more, enjoyed like life a bit more, they had fun with textures in fashion and glam. Now to tell you this, I haven’t seen a green kohl in a while, but eh, all our moms used to own one, right?
Then there was this soft italian music playing in the background and the 9:30 morning sun peeking in between the branches of the trees - it made it all feel like a true spring summer dream. (See more in my instagram post tonight).
I will forever love how a show and all its composition: the music, the set up and the models can transport you in time for a brief moment, as if, you are not sitting down and watching an actual fashion show, but living the life the designer imagines for the woman wearing her creations. And so it was! Entered the venue still talking on the phone to the kids, got out of the show in a dreaming state.
